On the basis of data available in the framework of ADRIAMED WG on Small-scale fisheries it is possible to assume that more than 90% of vessels have Loa ≤12 m. The classification of fishering effort is: 5 very low 4 low 3 medium 2 high 1 very high The method used is the Multi-criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) combined with GIS. Each fishing vessel is equipped with a blue box that periodically sends signals (pings) containing data about position, speed and course of the vessel. Each signal sent by the blue box is a VMS ping. The layer collects data from 3 different areas: - Italian Adriatic: Fao statistical areas 17 and 18 - Italian Ionio: Fao statistical areas 19 - Greek Ionio and Egeo: Fao statistical areas 20 The values of different areas cannot be compared. Values are divided in 5 classes: 5: very low; minimum value in 2013 for each areas 4: low 3: medium 2: high 1: very high: maximun value in 2013 for each areas Values range: from 1 (minimum value for 2013) to 100 (maximum value for 2013). There is an area precluded (within the 3 nautical miles from shore), an area in which they can operate all boats (within 12 nautical miles) and an area where they can only operate boats with fishing license "costiera ravvicinata" (within of the 40 nautical miles from the coast) or Mediterranean fisheries. It should be noted that within the OTB system also includes boats utilizing the "rapido", 6 in Rimini and 2 in Goro. It also shows the line of the 6 nautical miles, within which there is a ban on trawling season (DM 11/07/2013).
